Day 4
We’ve been lazy this morning, sitting around drinking coffee and tea, in no hurry to get out and about. It’s 48 deg with 21 mph winds.
I did bravely step outside to take a photo of the sunrise.
Here are a few pics from yesterday that I didn’t get posted.
We actually did have access to a map when we were out of range of cellphone service. 😁
Since it was cold and windy this morning we decided to go to the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum.
Tree made completely of bicycle parts.
They were set up for a silent auction of Christmas trees designed by various artists.
Jo Anne, this pic is for Kevin.
The first electric car built in 1918. It could go 80 miles before recharging. And we think we’re so advanced today.
First electric bicycle.
Quite a pump jack.
Steam powered.
Asbestos oil well fire fighting suit.
Weather is a bit nicer now so we are going to the park for a short hike.
Taking the Kiowa Trail. 1.4 miles out and then back.
What a difference a day makes in the weather.
All bundled up and ready to go.
A very unusual tree that looks like elephant hide.
Gypsum layers in the rock.
A really cool formation.
Vicki was the only brave soul to climb up into it.
Mount Rushmore look alike.
Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River.
We also took a little 1/2 mile hike called the Pioneer Nature Trail.
After hiking we went to eat at Joe’s Tacos. Then shopped around town a bit.
Didn’t know John and Vicki had a shop in Canyon.
Totals today:
5.4 miles
11,183 steps
17 floors
Back to the barndominium for afternoon tea and coffee.
We’ve decided to try to get away by 7:30 in the morning so will pack up this evening.
Wearing our Spiritual Sisters Sojourn shirts, a gift from Colleen.
It’s been an amazing time with super special friends who are truly a gift from the Lord. I’m pretty sure we’ve solved all the world’s problems too so you can all rest easy tonight.
